About GPS Distance Calculator
Calculating the distance between two points on the globe isn't as simple as drawing a straight line, because the Earth is curved. This tool uses the Haversine Formula.
The Math
The formula calculates the shortest distance over the earth's surface, giving an "as-the-crow-flies" distance.
- Useful for: Flight distance estimation, hiking between waypoints, or radio range planning.
- Not for: Driving distance (which follows roads).
Usage Instructions
Enter Latitude and Longitude for Point A and Point B. Use decimal degrees (e.g. 40.7128, -74.0060 for NYC).
